Lancaster Massage - Frequently Asked Questions!
Question: Why don’t you come to the Mall?
Answer: We are trying to get to the Mall. We love the idea of making Overdid it! even more convenient for our clients. The stickler is making sure to follow the ordinances for Palmdale and currently the ordinance reads that no more than 25% of our business can be massage. Well, 100% of our business is massage. Our hope is the new statewide ordinance that will be coming out in September will override the old ordinance and thereby opening a door for us to open another site. So, look for us to be there asap.
Question: Why do you not have closed rooms?
Answer: That is a great question. When Overdid it! was first formed, our business plan called for the layout to be very casual and open-style. We wanted the ease and convenience of a walk-in setting similar to the massage spots in the center of the mall. We had no idea just how popular our trademark massages and our staff would become. Our clients love and have trust our workers so much that they now come for one hour and two hour massages---something we did not anticipate. Overdid it! is very excited about trying to meet the desires of our clients and we are certainly working on finding a new location that will still offer our open space as well as a more private setting for the longer massages. We want our clients to know that if they desire more privacy, they can always book before we open or even after we close at 7pm Monday through Friday or after 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Our workers will be happy to stay after to create the perfect, relaxing environment.
Question: Why don’t you book parties anymore?
Answer: We had a great deal of clients that requested us to extend our hours. We could not extend the hours without interfering with our Party bookings. Therefore, until we can get another location, the parties had to be discontinued. But wait! You can still bring a group and we will give your our group rates. Just give us a call before you come so we can make sure we have enough staff to accommodate your needs.
Question: What’s with the choice of music?
Answer: Overdid it! was designed to be a fun, walk-in, friendly massage experience---not a Day Spa. We play a whole variety of music from Jazz, to Pop, and even some relaxing music. We operate under the premise that most people who come to see us are hurting and they may not necessarily be here to have that quiet, organic experience. We do offer headsets that have all different styles of music to choose from including, the ocean, rain, flutes and harps, jazz with Kenny G, 80’s rock and even classical music. The client gets to pick their own music giving them the massage experience that fits his/her individual style.
Question: What do you clean your equipment with to keep it sterile?
Answer: We are very conscientious about the chemicals we use here. We want them to be as natural as possible but yet still clean properly. We have chosen to use a Hospital Grade Germicidal called Citrus II.
Question: How long have you been open?
Answer: We opened April 28th, 2008
Question: Why do you have a kids’ section when people are supposed to relax?
Answer: We wanted a place that was open to helping everyone, including our youth athletes, families, the terminally ill, etc. By having a kids’ play area, Mom’s can come in and bring their well behaved children to play while they get a 10 minute quick fix massage or a half hour Back on Track to help them on their way. Every client is offered music in their headset to drown out any background noise that may be from a child shuffling toys.
Question: Why is there sometimes a wait?
Answer: Overdid it! has become more popular thanks to our word-of-mouth advertising from satisfied clients. Often times, our therapists will have no clients all morning and then will face a huge rush in the afternoon. Because each and every day is different, there is no one exact way to staff the store. We try to always be prepared but that is not always possible. Most of the time our regular clients will call ahead of time to see if we are packed. That way, they can accommodate their schedule to fill in their errands first and then come to see us when the rush is over. It is not our desire to ever have a client wait for service.
Question: Why do you have machine massages along with hands-on? Isn’t hands-on way better?
Answer: That depends on each individual client. For a client that is hurting but cannot stand to be touched, the machines are a perfect match. For a client that has seriously overdone it and every muscle possible is aching, the machine is a perfect match as well. By relaxing the total body with the water jets, the client can then tolerate a deeper hands-on pressure within a few days. Hands-on massage is truly more popular but not always the only option or the best option. It really depends on the client and what his/her needs are that day.
Question: Why don’t you take insurance?
Answer: We have tried. The insurance companies that we have called do not recognize massage therapists but will recognize chiropractors. Often times, chiropractors will bill the insurance under another treatment but offer the massage to help the client. Other times, chiropractors will offer massage as a side to their business without billing the insurance together. More and more clients have told us that they have given up paying their $40 co-pay for physical therapy and are coming to us for 4 -10 minute quick-fix massages at $10 each because he/she feels that we do more for them than the hot packs and tens-units can provide. Some physical therapists do not even touch the client with any massage whatsoever. We are a viable option for that client because we do work site-specific areas.
Question: Why don’t you offer hot stone massages and mud wraps?
Answer: Because we cannot in good conscious put a bunch of stones and mud on someone and call it a “massage”. We are here to give value for our client’s dollar and get in there to help them with their pain. We are not a Day Spa. Never wanted to be either.
